    Progress Report Empty Progress Report

    Post  Twisted-Liquid Fri Nov 12, 2010 12:21 pm

I am nearly finished with the backgrounds for the tutorial stages, and I have completed concept art for the main character and more stage objects presented in the tutorials, I will be working on the floor tilesets this weekend.

Since the tutorial stages are extremly short I decided the first 5 stages will carry the same background the reminaing stages may be long enough to display one background stage per level.

    ok, great!
to be honest i don't think having a separate background on each level is wise unless they are going to be below 200kb each... we have about 7.5Mb worth of space...
    But this is great!

will all the tutorial resources be done this weekend?

Those stage graphics are beast! just one thing, you left the statue of liberty as Jpg so it doesn't have an alpha channel...

i have removed the white for now but the outline is all white so it looks dodgy...

please fix this, those graphics are looking great!

yeh i did, i followed those rules except i made the background scroll because imo it looks better, it makes no difference to size or performance.

Btw where did you get 360kb from???

im getting 1.210Mb i cut the background down so its aroun 890kb but is there any else that can be done to cut down filesize??? i know we have enough space atm, but we might as well be effiecient from the start.

I was working on tileable terrain last night the tileset for the first stage will be complete wednesday night, Im afraid I cant get started digitizing the menu until thursday night and may not have results until friday night on that menu. I have also been doing some concept design to try and use as many tilesets as often as possible in several stages to minimize the file size. I will be updating the images created for the first stage with an attempt to make them a bit more universal for various stages.

that stage looks epic! im just changing depth on some objects as they are behind the front tiles, will update the file so make sure you edit the new one. everytime you edit, make sure you take the file from the file share. (im sure u do but im just making sure).

those effects are epic. btw what do you want doing with the background, just the enw sprite?

Im sure you already figured it out, dropped in the glass sprite. center the point of origin and stack them accordingly. we may need to go back and replace the glass for the 4 or 5 stages we use it on shouldnt be too much work just a few here and there. its designed to tile both vertical and horizontal and end up with jagged edges when broken.
